Dudley our loyal & faithful dog 1999-2011

Dudley & I. This was taken the day he passed away.

Dudley Fraser Sanders June 1st, 1999 – September 12th, 2011

Dearest friends,

At 2:55 PM Monday, September 12th, 2011, Dudley Fraser Sanders, our beloved dog of 12 years & 1 week, peacefully passed away.  For almost 2 years he had a cancerous tumor on his left front leg.  We had our devoted veterinarian, Dr. Pat Parnell watching it carefully over this duration, advising us to watch this carefully.  He told us early on, it would grow to a dangerous stage & we would know when it was time.  Today it was time.  No surgery could have spared him with any quality of life.  Our family, Dede, Austin, Evan, & I as well as his closest companions, his brother Jasper, & his 2 sisters Pebbles & Tootie grieve this loss.

The body has been cremated & a private memorial service will be held at a later date.  Our family wishes to express our deepest gratitude with your kind responses in the passing of our beloved pal & friend.

I will miss his send offs every morning, as he & I were always the first ones to rise & shine!  And his loyal late at night meeting me at the door & our long talks late into the night as I answered e-mails & Facebook messages with his advice as he lay beside my chair.  Till I cross that rainbow bridge my friend, Dudley, I love you!

Rainbow Bridge
Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge.
There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together.
There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.
The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent;
His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together.
